The Draft Report of the National Competition Policy Review of Pharmacy has been released. While the Review recommended some lifting of anti-competitive regulations -- for example in relation to the location of pharmacies and the number of pharmacies a pharmacist can own -- unfortunately the Committee stopped short of recommending any lifting of rules in relation to pharmacy ownership. You still have to be a pharmacist to own a pharmacy in most states of Australia.
